If you were one of the many people who were anticipating for the
launch of the Jason Wu line for Target this past Sunday, February 5, 2012, you
were probably wondering what time this designer discount deal was going to be
available online. Your guess was as good as mine. Target did not release a
time. When it was 12:30 AM I knew the launch time was not meant to be at
midnight, and if it was sometime during the very early morning the residents in
the pacific coast would be the lucky ones because some would still be
awake.
I
happen to wake up in the middle of the night, and notice few Jason Wu products
were posted on the Target.com website. it was difficult navigating and finding
the products you want because at one time you will only see one link, then when
you try to go back to the full product page that page would disappear. As
someone who wanted to get few items for myself (15-25 minutes to my browsing on
the Target.com) one item disappeared from my cart. Then few seconds later two
more items just disappeared. Some would-be shoppers reported that the same
thing happened to them. This likely means that item in the Target online
shopping cart is not reserved, and that people could actually take an item from
you if they check out before you. For noticing what was happening I acted
quickly; immediately check out the items I had; which is the reason I was able
to obtain few Jason Wu products.
If
you want to know if Target is restocking this line; well as a Target
representative told me they do not know; and to keep checking each week. I
could tell you that only one accessory item was restocked online once this
week, or at least what I have seen when I'm awake and online. In case you want to
check your local Target store sometimes, I should say often times when the
website says an item is available at a specific store it actually is not. I
went to a target store after Target.com listed one store as having the item. I
went there and none could be found. No accessories at all. About 15 minutes
later two females arrived, and thought and said the same thing (Target.com said
item available at the store, but once you go there it is not available there).
As they walked away from the one very small Jason Wu rack one said, “well to
the next Target store” it is. Trust me, likely the other store did not have it
either. Look at the ratings of the Jason Wu products, and some have done the
same thing as I did (searched on Target.com website where item is available;
went to the stores where target.com said it was available; arrived at the store
and time wasted. Item(s) were not at the store.
Last
year's Missoni for Target was a hit that quickly sold out. The 2012
Jason Wu line for Target is an adorable design, but the production quality
(this is another story to blog about) for many of the Jason Wu line are not
superb. They are however cute. The choice of color and design is what makes
this line attractive. A suggestion to Target: When hyping a product launch,
particularly for a runway designer, make sure you have enough inventory to meet
the demand of your targeted consumers. In the past week since the launch six
days ago, unfortunately, you have not.
